Doctor Shannon Stanek
Born and raised in Southern California, Dr. Shannon has always loved and cared for animals. After spending her 16th year as an exchange student in Australia, she moved to Virginia where she finished high school while working for a local veterinarian. She then attended Virginia Tech receiving two Bachelor of Science Degrees in Animal Science and Agricultural Economics before starting veterinary school at the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine located on the Virginia Tech Campus.
After graduating from vet school, Dr. Shannon joined a practice in Virginia, and then started her own housecall practice. She moved to this area in 1999 when her husband, Jamie, was transferred here. Since then she has worked at a cat only practice, a regular small animal clinic, and at the Humane Society of Berks County while running a housecall only practice.
She is the Past President of the American Association of Housecall and Mobile Veterinarians. She is the Mom to two human children – Ellie and Robby, 10 fur kids – Spike, Jack, Lily and Bertram that stay at her house, Nicodemus, Onyx, and Ferdinand that stay at the Clinic, and Tunney and Godric – who travel with Mom back and forth between clinic and home, and Charley who lives on a farm in Elverson. When not busy with the family and clinic, Dr. Shannon enjoys woodworking, baking, cooking, knitting, sewing, decorating, and sleep!
Diane, Office Manager
Carolyn and Mark Kottmeyer, IT Support and Reception
These two tag team so well with us. They both are wonderful at maintaining and keeping our computers running. They also pitch in as receptionists and after hours boarding care. They have two cats, Rumpleteaser and Coraline and two daughters. When not helping us out at the clinic, Mark and Carolyn enjoy geocaching, cooking, playing music together (multiple instruments), and hanging out after hours with the rest of us.
Ellie Stanek, Kennel Assistant
Ellie is Dr. Shannon’s eldest. She has started this summer stating she does not want to go to camp anymore and this is her alternative. She will be working here during the summer and on school breaks. When not at the clinic, she enjoys spending time with her horse – Charley, reading, computer games, dog training, and spending time with “her” cat – Lilly and dog – Tunney.
